Community Beat for 14 February

Greetings, New Eden, and welcome to the Community Beat! Here's a highlight of some of the neat and cool things the EVE community has been up to over the last few weeks!
CSM Summit Airplane Mode!
CCP recently hosted the CSM for the annual summit at our HQ in Iceland, which involved flying the CSM across for a week of in-person meetings. Last year, the Guristas "acquired" a series of CONCORD ships destined to be prizes for the 20th Alliance Tournament and put their adaptations on them. One of those prizes, adapted from the Marshal, is the high-value Python, a black ops battleship Drake Iddon owns and operates.
As is the sandbox nature of EVE, Drake set himself a goal with his Python to score a kill on his flight. This was a rather ambitious goal, especially given the reliability of Wi-Fi connectivity at 38,000ft (around 11,500m) and going 570mph (920km/h)! At the time of writing, the community established the market value of Python at around 1.3T ISK; in fact, Mark Bridges secured the title of highest-value loss mail in 2024 with his loss of this ship. Either way, the outcome of this goal would result in one of two records. To secure one of the first confirmable kills from an AT ship at 38,000ft or the most significant loss at that altitude!
With this goal in mind during the flight over to Iceland, Drake managed to log in and undocked his Python, ready to go hunting. At that moment, the Wi-Fi indicator turned off on his laptop, and he disconnected! PANIK He managed to get back on and do a short roam around, but he couldn't find any good targets to kill. He decided to dock up as the plane was coming in for a landing. However, that wasn't going to stop him as there was always the flight back! Sure enough, on the return flight home, Drake attempted the same thing again, but this time, he managed to secure himself a kill during the flight. It was just a little Venture, but a kill is a kill; what a legend!
Congratulations to him!
Drake was also kind enough to pass along, on behalf of the residents of "Triangle Space", a rather sizeable triangular-prism-shaped chocolate bar to one of the developers working on Pochven updates. Check out the picture below with a Fedo for scale.
When I say sizable, this thing is 30 inches/73cm long, weighs 9.9 lbs/4.5kg, and has a whopping 28,000 calories. That's enough chocolate calories to supply a human for nearly two weeks!

Crisis creates opportunity
Recently, though, the Drifter Crisis event kicked off in New Eden, and we've been enjoying seeing content made around this. If you're not sure what a Drifter is, though, don't worry; Sheev Palpatine, also known as Ahsheeved on Youtube, put together a quick video explaining what the Drifters are and hypothesised what their true purpose might be, which you can check here:
One of the sites that spawns during the crisis event is the "Deathless Research Outposts". Inside this site, a Wormhole Research Outpost generates Hyperspace Telemetry data on behalf of the Deathless from a nearby Wormhole. Sleepers continue to pour out of the wormhole and attack both the outpost and any nearby Capsuleers. Eve Partner Eaglefirefly did a little cinematic video covering this site.
Help the Deathless secure the data, or let the structure die and take your fill of the loot; the choice is yours!
Follow your He(art)
We've also seen our fair share of fantastic EVE-themed and inspired art in the last few weeks. Over on Reddit, Teclis posted a few examples of this - a few doodles; the first is a spooling Ikitursa, the second is labelled "Huffy Puffy", and the third is inspired by crystals seen in Triglavian space.
One of the replies to the original thread also suggested trying an Iteron Mark V doodle out, which Teclis obliged the request. It looks incredible! Look at the little Poco in orbit and the sigs in the system; I love it; I want to put it in a little picture frame on my desk and admire it forever!
We also saw a chilling Displate creation (printed artwork on metal plates) from u/Pretty_Initative517 that would make CCP Kestrel proud:
Legendary SKIN creator T'amber has also been working the last few months on custom playing cards of several figures within the community. T'amber has been making these for fun, and they look damn cool! He usually cross-posts his creations on Twitter as well - go check it out.
Don't zoom in on the glasses of the Mind1 card, though; it might reveal something a little unexpected!

We also wrap up today's community beat with a final special thank you to one of the community's most veteran artists.
Rixx opened up his store back in July 2022 and, as of February 2025, has closed its doors. Many of the community team have some of Rixx's fantastic art; now, hearing it's part of a now limited supply, whilst sad, also makes us treasure it that much more. We've admired the work Rixx has put into his creations over the years and his continued support in the community in a plethora of projects, still to this day over on Twitter, if you see an EVE avatar as a profile picture with a fancy hat, chances are it was from Rixx! Even at a recent EVE meet in Iceland we handed out a signed copy of one of his creations:
